San Antonio VegFest 2019

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is organizing the festival?

San Antonio VegFest 2019 is proudly presented by the Vegan Initiative

Dynamic Association (VIDA). VIDA is a coalition of vegan business owners,

animal advocates, and community organizers that was formed to create our

city’s first VegFest. VIDA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our mission is to inspire interest and engagement in the vegan movement by organizing innovative events and creating opportunities for activism.

Our programs celebrate and strengthen San Antonio’s vegan community while

encouraging everyone to consider more compassionate and sustainable

choices.

What are the festival hours?

VIP ticket holders will be able to enter early on both days, at 9 am. General

admission entry will begin at 10 am. On Saturday, our vendors will close up

shop at 7 pm, but we encourage you to stay for our live music concert,

which will last until 10 pm. On Sunday, the festivities will end at 6 pm.

That’s a long time to spend at a festival. What will I do all day?

Eat: Enjoy a wide variety of delicious vegan food from our vendors. Try one

booth for lunch, choose another for dinner, and have some baked goods as

a mid-afternoon snack.

Move: On Saturday, catch the festival opening fitness class on the main

stage at 10:30 am. On Sunday, VegRide 2019 will take you on a morning

tour of the neighborhoods near Sunset Station. And throughout both days

of the festival, you can attend free yoga and fitness classes in The

Arcadian North. Don’t forget to bring your mat!

Shop: From apparel and accessories to vegan wellness and personal care

products, our vendors have much more to offer than tasty meals.

Learn: In our speaker sessions and panel discussions, we’ll explore topics

such as health, sustainability, animal advocacy, plant-based cooking, and

vegan lifestyle concerns. Take a look at our schedule to see what interests

you, and please join us in The Arcadian South.

Connect: Visit the outreach tables of local and national nonprofit

organizations to gather information, ask questions, and find opportunities

for deeper involvement.

Party: Our featured DJs will bring the chill vibes during the day, and our

live music performers will get you dancing at our Saturday night concert.

Will VegFest take place indoors or outdoors?

Sunset Station includes both indoor and outdoor areas. We expect that

you’ll want to visit the food booths and listen to music outdoors, then head

back inside to check out more vendors and enjoy our festival programming.

The DJ and live performance stage will be under The Lone Star Pavilions,

where the shade, fans, and misters will help to alleviate the heat.

What should I bring with me?

All belongings may be searched at the security stations, and we

recommend small, neatly packed bags to make this process easier. To help

us reduce waste, please bring a reusable water bottle to fill at our water

stations. You’re also encouraged to bring your own utensils and straws. If

you’d like to participate in our yoga and fitness class offerings, please bring

a mat. And extra sunscreen is always a good idea!

Should I bring my children?

Yes!

San Antonio VegFest is a family-friendly event, and all children ages

twelve and under can attend for free. We have a room that is designated as

the Family Zone, where children can take a break from the crowds and do

some coloring, look through a veg-themed picture book or build with

LEGOs. On Saturday, there will be a very special performance from Family

DJ Jabberwocky Jake between 11 am and 1 pm. On Sunday, we’ll have a

family yoga class in The Arcadian North at 10:30 am and a panel called

“Growing Up Vegan” in The Arcadian South at 1:30 pm.

What about my dog?

Yes, your dog can come, too! Sunset Station allows dogs in all areas of the

venue. Festival sponsor Movin’ N Groomin’ will have a special area for our

companion animals, featuring treats, water bowls, a fan, a bubble machine,

and cold towels to cool off the pups.

Where should I park?

We encourage all attendees to take public transportation (there’s a VIA

stop nearby), use rideshare, or bike to the festival if possible. Some street

parking is available near Sunset Station, and there are privately owned lots

surrounding the venue.

What will my experience be like as a VIP ticket holder?

VIP ticket holders will enter through the VIP entrance, located in The

Depot, and receive a festival swag bag and t-shirt. They can arrive early at

9 am to have the first opportunity to visit all our wonderful vendors. Festival

VIPs will also have access to our VIP area, located on the second-floor

wraparound balcony of The Depot. There will be seating available in this

area, and food samples will be served there throughout the festival.

At our three festival juicing stations (Just Made Juice, Smart NATURED

Smoothies, and Viva la Calle), VIP ticket holders will receive a 50%

discount on drinks.

We also have three exclusive yoga classes on the

schedule for festival VIPS:

Saturday, August 31 st

9:15 am: VIP Morning Meditation and Sound Bath, Brandie Regalado of

Say Om SA

5:30 pm: VIP Vibe and Flow, Crystal Martinez of Naga Yoga

Sunday, September 1 st
